Dealing with Systematics at the Map Level

January 21, 2020
DESC Winter 2020 Collaboration Meeting, University of Arizona

I spoke about the same project as in Sussex in November 2019, although this was the first time I had spoken about this project to the Dark Energy Science Collaboration (DESC) Large Scale Structure (LSS) working group.

Linear Model Systematics Mitigation

November 05, 2019
DES Winter 2019 Collaboration Meeting, University of Sussex

I spoke about my project for mitigating the systematic effect of observing conditions on galaxy clustering analyses by fitting a model which assumes the over-density of galaxies is added to a linear combination of the various observing conditions. I had some results already when applying this method to Year 1 Dark Energy Survey (DES) redMaGiC data, but was still finding that there was a bias after my correction was applied.

Systematics Mitigation with Gaussian Processes

June 20, 2019
DES Summer 2019 Collaboration Meeting, University of Pennsylvania

I spoke about a project for mitigating the impact of observing conditions in galaxy clustering. This would be done using a Gaussian Process to fit for the impact of the observing conditions on the over-density of galaxies. This was a brand new project at the time, and we ended up not using this method after all.
